MANAGE FIRST AID RESOURCES

First aid courses in Brisbane will provide you with the skills and knowledge to establish, maintain and facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid in the workplace.

During your Brisbane course, you will learn how to assess workplace hazards and risks to determine resource requirements, identify relevant first aid equipment, resources and personnel to address workplace requirements and develop first aid action plans.

The course will cover how to monitor and maintain first aid equipment and resources, conduct regular inspections of stock and equipment, check equipment and currency of stock, ensure first aid equipment and resources are stored appropriately.  You will learn how to deploy equipment, resources and personnel and ensure waste is managed according to legislative requirements.

You will also learn how to complete documentation according to legislation and WHS procedures, maintain security and confidentiality of records and to participate in workplace first aid reviews to ensure equipment, resources and personnel have adequately provided first aid to meet the current organisational procedures and first aid action plans.

The course covers the legislation and regulatory elements of providing first aid including consent, privacy and confidentiality and duty of care, company/organisation standard operating procedures (SOPS), Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines for the provision of first aid, WHS obligations, storing and handling of medication, stress management, and first aid capabilities and limitations.

The course will also cover post incident debriefing and reporting as it applies to this unit’s competency.

Payment Terms – Payment for individual participants is upfront, group booking payment terms are based on agreement between the client and service provider.

COURSE DURATION

•    Option 1:  Face to Face – 6 hours (minimum) full face to face course
•    Option 2:  Online Training with Face to Face Assessment – 1 hour (minimum) face to face assessment with the addition of self-paced learning to be completed prior to attending the face to face course

Important information regarding course durations:

The duration of the course mentioned above, are reflective of group sizes of between 4 and 15 participants. If there are less students in a group, you may find course duration reduced by a maximum of 10%. If a class size exceeds 15 participants it may therefore also be necessary to increase course duration depending on the number of participants.

COURSE DELIVERY

This course will be delivered in the workplace or at a A Training training facility.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Participants must have the physical capacity to establish and maintain first aid facilities and equipment.

Participants must have literacy skills to complete documentation and read instructions.

Online study options: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies

ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.  These are detailed in the sections following.

CERTIFICATE RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS

Employers are recommended to consult with stakeholders to identify appropriate training periods. Specific licensing requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the relevant state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authority.

WORK PLACEMENT ARRANGEMENTS

No work placement will be required as part of this course.

Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions.
